The documentary film, which centers on a family of loggers living in Little Mountain, SC is directed and edited by Michael Tolbert and will join his documentary series Operation Adventure.

On Tuesday, August 9th, director Michael Tolbert met with Little Mountain, South Carolina’s town officials to present and discuss the possibility of a local screening for our film Wood: A Family Affair.
Today we are proud to announce our film will officially screen in the Movies in the Park series held at Reunion Park on Saturday, October 22nd beginning at 6:30pm.
It will be the opening act followed by Disney’s Hotel Transylvania 2.
Admission to the screening is free to the public.

It’s a special day for Richard Kinard.
Rain or shine, Richard Kinard can be found at his woodshed.
The former logger, turned documentary film star, turns 80 today.
Now you might ask, how does one celebrate their 80th birthday? For Richard it’s simple. Splitting firewood while friends and family drop by to show their love and appreciation for the father of seven and grandfather to twenty-four.
If you’re in the area, or have to pass by Kinard Hill, then make sure to drop in or simply honk your horn to let Richard know you’re thinking about him.
Located in Little Mountain, South Carolina sits a small woodshed where Richard Kinard can be found. To many this area is known as Kinard Hill and for nearly eight decades a majority of the Kinard family has called it their home.
Richard has been working in the wood industry for the better part of six decades. His career began as a child working in his father’s sawmill. By the time he graduated from high school he bought himself a truck, and began hauling a pulpwood around the state of South Carolina in order to make a living.
Since retirement, Richard spends most of his time at the woodshed, splitting wood awaiting the winter months.

The last 24hrs have been a nonstop adventure. From screening at the Nickelodeon Theatre during Magic Hour II, to then waking up this morning to a beautifully written article published in the The Newberry Observer about the film!!

Wood: A Family Affair will screen at the Magic Hour II, a variety show held at the Nickelodeon Theatre this Thursday, June 30th beginning at 7pm. This will be the third screening for the film following it’s debut at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and premiere of independent science
fiction feature Prelude to Infusco.
Admission to event is $10. Box office opens 30 minutes before showtime. Tickets are also available for online purchase.

Today has been incredible! In the last twenty-four hours we’ve launched our official Facebook page, our webpage, released a promo for the documentary film, and last but not least submitted to our first film festival.
But that’s not whats incredible. What’s incredible is the fact that so many people have reached with love and kindness to support our film. For that we want to say thank you all.
As many of you know this film was made during the Spring 2015 semester in order to fulfill a course requirement; however, it somehow managed to take on a life of its own. Over the last year. I’ve worked on editing the film; tightening up spots, trimming off the unnecessary fat of the film, and adding much needed subtitles. Wood: A Family Affair has touched a place in my heart like no other project and I’m truly excited for you all to see it. With all of that being said, I’m going to leave you all with this small promo from the film.
